Greetings! I'm Ahmad Ali. I have been studying Political Science at IIUM since March 2023 (second intake.) Aside specialising in international relations, I am also taking law as my elective subjects, with my main field of interest being both constitutional law and international law.
My goal in life is to study hard and later work my way through spreading the word of Islam through pen and paper (and perhaps the keyboard,) and fighting for the cause of our religion and country, inshāʾAllāh.
Such is still a long way to go, however. For now, I write in my own humble space over on my weblog at ahmadalikarim.com, as well as my weekly column, Diari Remaja on Utusan Malaysia every Saturday.

Despite having a family from Kuala Terengganu, growing up in Kuala Lumpur, I can barely speak proper Terengganu dialect, but rather just understand and perhaps 'write' Terengganuspeak. I did attend any school, but was instead homeschooled since the beginning and took my SPM as a private candidate. I am quite proud to say that IIUM (specifically CFS IIUM) is my first formal education institution ever, and I'm excited to create many great memories here in Gombak, as much as I did during my time in Gambang.
I grew up developing an interest in writing and arts, while being fascinated over politics and law. As I grew older, I became more and more passionate about law, and set my aims to further my studies in law. In the end, I ended up taking Human Sciences in CFS, and I'm currently continuing my studies in Political Science, with law as elective subjects.
Among the things I regularly do during my free time is translating and also art. I'm currently the proofreader for the Malay and Jawi translation of Minecraft appointed under Mojang Studios, and I also do other side works relating to translation, specifically English to Malay and vice versa. I also do digital design and illustration, something that has been a hobby of mine ever since I was very young.
My main niche would be writing. As mentioned before, I have a weekly column over on Utusan Malaysia titled Diari Remaja. My articles have been published there every Saturday since 2020, and previously every Wednesday back in 2019. You can check it out either on Utusan Digital, or by visiting Level 4 of Dar Al-Hikmah Library on Saturdays and check the physical paper there. My writings range from social issues to current affairs such as politics, governance, and well-being, alongside other moral values.
My goals for the future is to share all the knowledge I am able to garner to other people across the world. I believe that every person has their rights to quality education, irrespective of their status and position. They also deserve to be free from manipulation of education and manipulation of information, simply due to lack of background information or ability. InshāʾAllāh, I plan to continue my journey post-graduation by spending my time teaching at IIUM.
To me, the philosophy of the university well-encompasses the ideal worldview, where we do not only strive for scientific and academic achievements but also the development of spirituality and humanity. This is how the world should approach things moving forward, as it is how we can ensure the longevity and sustainability of our success in all aspects and all fields.
